In a patent infringement lawsuit against Micron Technology (MU), Netlist (NLST) has been awarded $445 million in damages, as ruled by a jury in the United States Eastern District of Texas Federal Court. The decision pertains to two intellectual property patents held by Netlist. The products found to have infringed these patents were Micron’s DDR4 RDIMMs and DDR4 LRDIMMs memory modules.
The jury confirmed that Micron intentionally violated both patents, resulting in financial compensation to Netlist for the unauthorized use of Patent 912 from April 2021 to May 2024 and Patent 417 from August 2021 to May 2024. Netlist’s CEO, C.K. Hong, emphasized the significance of the jury’s decision, stating, “This ruling marks the second time in a little over a year that a jury has found that one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers deliberately infringed our patents. The awarded $445 million in damages reflects the value of Netlist’s technological innovations and the necessity of protecting intellectual property rights.”
